The main theme is to help students to integrate into the local society with confidence. To provide them with appropriate language for them to make progress in their search for employment. Students will also learn English language to be able to visit their GP, go shopping, pay their bills, learn about various opportunities for employment. They will also have visitors who will speak to them about how to keep healthy and how they can make contribution to their own health and that of their family members. Students will also learn about various community engagement opportunities and be provided information about volunteering in their local area. Some of the students will be given an opportunity to visit the local college for progression purpose. Students will also have opportunities to learn about the wider communities and various cultures that exist side-by-side in Lancashire ,and more locally ,in Accrington.

Course aim

The main purpose of this course is to instil confidence in students who are learning English as a Second Language. The Course will help them to become independent and learn about their local communities & British Values to integrate positively.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Be confident enough to visit your GP on your own, go shopping, respond to questions and be able to ask questions.
  • Acquire information about local networks for volunteering purpose.
  • Have sufficient language to make new friends
  • Have sufficient English language to get a job
  • Progress to a accredited ESOL course

Students are required to bring an A4 size folder for paper work, pen/pencil to write and A4 writing pad.
