We will learn what a healthy, balanced diet is, how to make healthy choices for you and your family and explore topics such as 5 A DAY, food labelling, food shopping and budgeting. Learners will also study the Level 1 Food Hygiene and Safety course.

Course aim

This course is just for learners from Home To Work in Cleator Moor. A relaxed and friendly course for those who are interested in learning more about healthy eating on a budget to improve your own and your families’ diet.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Understand how the Eatwell Guide can be used for a healthy balanced diet
  • State one example for a healthy food choice
  • Provide two examples of a portion size of fruit or vegetables
  • Understand how to read food labels
  • Understand food hygiene and safety requirements for working with food
