Exploring Modern Literary Texts (classroom-based)

Ref: C3847064

For the first 5 weeks of the course we will continue to discuss a range of modern Irish literature, considering the central themes and characters. The key texts will be Star of the Sea by Joseph O’Connor and The Green Road by Anne Enright. A selection of short stories, novel extracts and poems will also be read and discussed during the sessions. We will consider how the texts explore ideas about family and emigration. We will also explore the social and historical context of the texts. The theme and texts for after the half term break will be discussed and agreed with the group during the sessions.
