Join our progressing group of learner-artists. Learn sound drawing & painting skills in a variety of media studying portrait & figure. Use a variety of media freely from pencil, pen brush, charcoal & pastel. Learn the correct proportions, basic forms, light & shade, facial expressions, different viewpoints & movement etc. This is a course for all abilities.

Course aim

To provide an introduction to portrait, figure drawing & painting through both theory & observation for those with little or no knowledge of the subject. You will develop skills both observational & imaginative while learning sound theory

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to draw a portrait from life or the imagination with improved skill & confidence
  • Develop improved skills in drawing a full length human figure from life & the imagination
  • Develop skills in handling proportion, & light & shade
  • Demonstrate greater ability in suggesting movement in figure drawing
  • Develop ideas on composition & how to arrange them in an imaginative setting

You will need an A3 CARTRIDGE DRAWING PAD, a selection of hard & soft B pencils or charcoal sticks, or graphite sticks.Colour will be used later on.
