Everyday Esol (SCC-Southampton students only)

This course is for the students who want to practice their basic speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in a friendly and encouraging classroom, with the help of interactive and engaging activities. The students will take part in dialogues and role plays, and they will work in pairs and groups to practice the language in daily life like situations.

Course aim

The course is to help the students learn and practice basic English language skills to be able to better involved in the community.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Speak, listen and understand, read and write 5 sentences to make a polite request.
  • Engage in a role play to order food in a restaurant.
  • Ask and answer 5 questions to exchange information; name, address, phone number.
  • Fill in a form to register at a GP’s surgery.
  • Read and write the names of 5 clothing items and 5 fruits and vegetables.

Students don’t need to have any previous knowledge relevant with the course and they don’t need to bring anything with them.
