Edwin Lutyens - The Great British Architect

Edwin Lutyens has long been seen as one of England's greatest architects of the late 19th and early 20th century. His breadth in the type of buildings and structures is often not fully known. We will be looking at the country house builder, the designer of World War I cemeteries & the Cenotaph, and his buildings in new Delhi as well as exploring the character of the man.

Course aim

The aim of this course is to gain a good understanding of the career and achievements of the architect Edwin Lutyens. Specific buildings will be considered as part of the course.

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Recognise the main features of an Edwin Lutyens House
  • List at least three types of architecture produced by Edwin Lutyens
  • Give an account of Edwin Lutyens' life
  • demonstrate improvement in my digital skills by using Canvas and Zoom
