An enjoyable course in a friendly environment aimed at people who genuinely want to commence yoga and maybe concerned about how to begin safely and gently. Specifically aimed at people with less flexibility, or who have joint or mobility problems. You may have other symptoms and conditions e.g. depression, anxiety, headaches knee/hip/neck pain, high/low blood pressure. We ease into movements and explore breath awareness that encourages mobility and activates the central nervous system. It is a gentle course adapted to learners needs, led by an experienced and well-qualified tutor.

Course aim

A gentle 10 week yoga course learning preparations and postures in a friendly environment. Mat and chair based yoga accessible for everyone. Learn and practice long-lasting body and breath awareness that increases overall health and wellbeing.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Feel more physically grounded, especially in my feet. Waking up our feet helps us feel our spine and increases our general flexibility.
  • Improve my balance, coordination and strength giving me greater focus and helping to prevent falls.
  • Connect with others. This course is specifically designed to connect people. Connecting to others we feel safer. In modern society a lot of people are experiencing chronic pain and suffereing from depression due to social isolation.
  • Acquire breath awareness techniques that reduce stress levels and enable me to understand better how breathing affects my mental state. This also activates the parasympathetic system that helps us to feel more relaxed and more able to sleep.
  • A clearer knowledge in how to help myself ie. my self efficacy can improve and help me become more motivated to continue exercising regularly.

Please have a non slip mat. Also a chair (without arms), blanket, yoga belt or dressing gown cord, and a block or a couple of A3 books available.

As a registered charity, and to meet our funders’ requirements, we need to check a few things with you before you enrol. Please check the details below to ensure you meet the basic eligibility critiera:

  • You are paying the standard fee (with a credit or debit card) or you are on any of the qualifying benefits
  • You have a valid email address so that you can receive confirmation of your booking
  • You have been resident in the UK, EU or EEA for the last 3 years
  • You are aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2021
  • You declare that the address you provide is correct and that you will provide evidence of this and your eligibility to live and work in the UK
