Course aim
Noel Coward's achievements spread over many fields as actor, director, playwright, singer, composer and lyricist. This taster course aims to provide an overview of three plays : 'Hayfever',' Private Lives' and 'Blithe Spirit'.

- This course is for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Identify Coward's style and thematic concerns.
- Read or watch a play or film and discuss from an informed perspective.
- Evaluate ideas for staging and characterisation.
- Compare /contrast different interpretations of a character/role
What else do I need to know?
I will provide any play extracts. You may like to dip into Coward's autobiography' Present Indicative ' (1937) and 'Future Indefinite '( 1954) or read Sheridan Morley's biography 'A Talent to Amuse . A Life of Noel Coward'. Or enjoy one of his plays on audio or dvd or listen to his songs!
