History is written by the winners, so it's no surprise that there are many events that are overlooked, downplayed or simply forgotten about. This is a chance to explore events in British history that are less talked about, including some that the establishment preferred to forget. Likely topics range from the Great Cheese Riot of 1766 to women peace activists in World War One to people who challenged attitudes to sexuality in Victorian Britain. Throughout the course we will be asking: Why are some events remembered and others forgotten? Whose memory counts?
