Know your Computer / Laptop

This course is delivered in a friendly and informal environment to help build confidence with your computer/laptop. You will be introduced to parts of your computer/laptop and learn how it can be used to perform certain functions; eg writing and sending emails, accessing online services and searches for information. You can work at your own pace and no question is too small. The tutor will provide you with a step-by-step guide which will be made available to you to take home after the session.

Course aim

These basic computer sessions are aimed at absolute beginners. You will learn how to start up your computer, set up an email address and safely browse the internet, all which could help support social connections in a modern world.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • To confidently identify the key parts of a computer/laptop
  • To identify 3 key uses for your computer/laptop.
  • To demonstrate 3 skill areas where you have gained confidence when using your computer / laptop
  • To demonstrate how to set up an email account and demonstrate its uses.
  • To demonstrate how you can save and delete a document and image
