This course is for beginners delivered in a friendly and informal environment. You will build confidence with your own mobile phone and maximise its use to you personally. You will learn how to move between screens, how to access the internet, how to make and receive phone calls, send/receive and delete messages, access various applications (apps) and much more to suit your needs. You can work at your own pace and no question is too small, a step by step guide will be made available for you to practice your new skills outside the session.

Course aim

This course is suitable for absolute beginners introducing you to different functions within your mobile phone. You will learn how to turn your phone on/off, make calls, input contacts, send messages, connect to Wifi and make internet searches.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • To identify 3 functions on your phone use e.g. messaging, making calls, an address book
  • To demonstrate 3 new skills in the use of your phone
  • To demonstrate how to take photos and access your photo gallery
  • To safely access the internet and make a search
  • To identify how to create a contact list and demonstrate how to find a saved contact

Please bring your own phone fully charged for the session. A notebook and pen may be useful to take your own notes if you wish.

Enrolment Conditions

As a registered charity, and to meet our funders’ requirements, we need to check a few things with you before you enrol. Please check the details below to ensure you meet the basic eligibility critiera:

  • You are paying the standard fee (with a credit or debit card) or you are on any of the qualifying benefits
  • You have a valid email address so that you can receive confirmation of your booking
  • You have been resident in the UK, EU or EEA for the last 3 years
  • You are aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2021
  • You declare that the address you provide is correct and that you will provide evidence of this and your eligibility to live and work in the UK
