Develop your creative skills by upcycling fabrics you have at home, breathing life into your old items and creating new ones. In this online interactive course you will learn how to up-cycle scraps of fabric or old clothes to make decorative items, useful products and/or gifts. We will also reuse laces, trims and embellishments, using a variety of techniques. This is a relaxed and friendly course where you can have fun, make new friends, and learn useful skills.

Course aim

To take unwanted clothing items and repurpose the fabric creatively to make useful and decorative projects.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Use a digital device and understand the basics of Canvas to complete the learning record, learning outcomes, course evaluation and access other course materials on Canvas (online)
  • repurpose your own clothing and fabrics to create at least 3 new and original projects
  • explore how embellishments and trimmings can change/enhance the look of a garment or a project
  • demonstrate a variety of hand and machine sewing techniques
  • apply creative design skills to create unique bespoke items

Enrolment Conditions

This course is funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and only applicable postcode areas are permitted to enrol.
