Sewing for All

Come and join us for this course, where we will make a variety of sewn projects, including reusable every day objects such as shopping bags, washable kitchen roll, reusable face cleansing pads and many more. We will also look at some methods of visible mending, upcyling old clothing and making soft toys.

Course aim

The aim of this course is for students to learn how to make several different sewing projects, using both hand sewing and machine sewing.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Create several different reusable items
  • Make new from old - restyle and upcycle your wardrobe
  • Demonstrate at least one method of visible mending
  • Demonstrate at least 5 different hand embroidery stitches
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the uses for different stitches on a sewing machine

Feel free to bring your own fabrics and other supplies. One of the main focuses of this course is sustainable eco-friendly sewing, so please feel free to bring along scrap fabrics.

This course is funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and only applicable postcode areas are permitted to enrol.
