Designed to support people that may be looking for creative ways to support their mental health and wellbeing, this course aims to give learners the opportunity to explore a variety of art and craft techniques through a series of step-by-step guided activities. The sessions will be very flexible, giving students the opportunity to work at their own pace and personalise their learning journey towards the end of the course. Each class will be delivered in a very relaxed and gentle way, offering students the chance to escape daily life pressures to enjoy experimenting in a inspiring, fun environment.

Course aim

A creative, practical introduction to a variety of basic art and craft techniques delivered in a relaxed yet inspiring environment.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Experiment with a variety of different creative techniques such as drawing, 2D, 3D and art/craft activities.
  • Create art/craft work by either following step-by-step guided activities or by working in a more free, independent way.
  • Enjoy working alongside peers in a gentle, creative and inspiring environment.
  • Appreciate and benefit from the relaxing, wellbeing benefits of art and craft making.
  • Recognise that the creative work produced has the potential for product and enterprise development.

Although all resources will be provided, learners are more than welcome to bring along some of their own art and craft materials too, especially if they are working in a more independent way.

This course is funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and only applicable postcode areas are permitted to enrol.
