Welcome to our Yoga For All Course at St James Community Hall, Scarborough. Yoga is a practice that benefits both your physical and mental well being. We will focus on integrating breath and movement, helping you to stay calm, focused and improve your coordination. We will practice gentle stretches to alleviate tension and explore a balanced range of postures that improve your physical strength and flexibility. All classes end with a guided, deep relaxation. This course will focus on practices to alleviate neck and shoulder tension, restorative postures, balancing both mind and body , developing Yoga Nidra practice through new pathways of awareness.

Course aim

This course aims to teach yoga as a holistic practice that benefits the student physically, mentally and emotionally. Students will learn to improve their body and breath awareness and to move with careful consideration of their own needs.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Explore the practice of pelvic tilting - learning to release tension and find the connection between your pelvis and neck.
  • Practice a wide range of movements that release neck and shoulder tension.
  • Practice restful inversions helping you to rejuvenate.
  • Find the connection between balancing the body and mind.
  • Explore new pathways of awareness in the practice of Yoga Nidra.

You will need a yoga mat and also a block and belt if you have one.

Enrolment Conditions

As a registered charity, and to meet our funders’ requirements, we need to check a few things with you before you enrol. Please check the details below to ensure you meet the basic eligibility critiera:

  • You are paying the standard fee (with a credit or debit card) or you are on any of the qualifying benefits
  • You have a valid email address so that you can receive confirmation of your booking
  • You have been resident in the UK, EU or EEA for the last 3 years
  • You are aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2021
  • You declare that the address you provide is correct and that you will provide evidence of this and your eligibility to live and work in the UK
