Film Studies: 5 more of the best New Hollywood Cinema and beyond

Ref: C3680173

Exploring five (more) films (beginners & returners welcome) which fall under the banner of New Hollywood Cinema (sometimes called the U.S New Wave) - the popular name given to a period in U.S film history when the 'old Hollywood' studio system was in decline allowing a new generation of film makers to express themselves on screen. Many were influenced by film school, European and Asian cinema, the rising counter culture, political issues of the time and a desire to abandon classical formats. We examine their motivations as well as taking time to consider the appeal of these films then and now. Bonnie & Clyde (1967), McCabe & Mrs Miller (1971), The Last Picture Show (1971), Taxi Driver (1976), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
