Painting and Drawing - a world of colour

A World of Colour will introduce you to art from different cultures and traditions around the World - Islamic, Indian, Australian Aboriginal, African and Native American. You will make vibrant and colourful paintings (using acrylic paints) inspired by these art forms. This is a practical art course, with an element of Art History about these cultures. This course is suitable for beginners and improvers.

Course aim

To introduce students to the art of different cultures around the World. Students will produce their own work inspired by global painting traditions.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Create a dot painting inspired by Aboriginal Art
  • Create a patterned tile design based on Islamic Art
  • Make an animal or bird painting inspired by Native American Arts
  • A painting of a person, animal or plant in traditional Indian style
  • A painting inspired by contemporary African Art

Enrolment Conditions
