Make a positive start to the New Year by joining our Yoga For All Course at St James Community Hall, Scarborough. Yoga is a practice that benefits both your physical and mental well being. We will focus on integrating breath and movement, helping you to stay calm, focused and improve your coordination. We will practice gentle stretches to alleviate tension and explore a balanced range of postures that improve your physical strength and flexibility. All classes end with a guided, deep relaxation. We will take a closer look at developing strength in the ankles enhancing our practice of the Warrior poses and Chair pose. We will also explore the use of hand mudras in postures and meditation practice to enhance our concentration and awareness.

Course aim

This course aims to teach yoga as a holistic practice, ensuring all practices are adapted to meet individual needs. We will focus on exercises to strengthen the ankles, encouraging stability and using mudras to enhance concentration and awareness.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Practice a range of exercises and movements in postures to help strengthen the ankles.
  • Practice Utkatasana - The Chair pose/ mighty pose - developing strength in the body.
  • Explore variations of the Warrior poses to help you find ease in these strong poses and find the variation that suits your body.
  • Learn to deepen your breathing and slow your movements to improve concentration, coordination and relaxation.
  • Use hand mudras to enhance your concentration and awareness in breathing practices and meditation.
