Creative Writing: Lifewriting - more from the topical approach

Serving as both an introduction for newcomers and a follow up to the previous topcial approach course, this friendly and accessible course is aimed at anyone with an interest life writing. Focusing more specifically on autobiography (writing about one's own life) but may also of interest to those writing biographically (about someone else). We take a step by approach - fresh topics, a few new hints and tricks and new motivation allowing (more) memories to return as the writing develops.

Course aim

A freindly and accessible course to inspire, encourage and enable participants with the skills and understanding to develop and write their own or other's 'life stories'.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers
  • Open to all - this course serves as both a stand alone introduction and as a follow on to the previous 'Topical Approach' course.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Express an understanding of the process of life writing.
  • Demonstrate confidence in one's abilities in commenting on and critiquing a piece of life writing.
  • Draw from one's own skills and experience in creating a piece of life writing.
  • Display competence in the development of a piece of life writing.
  • Demonstrate motivation and enthusiasm for the subject area.
