Acapella Singing for Women

Ref: C3680152

This course builds on previous courses in Scarborough for an existing student group. The emphasis is on learning acapella rounds and harmony songs by ear to sing together for pleasure. Songs from a range of sources will be used, some in different languages. Along the way we will explore some of the cultural aspects of singing together using different singing traditions as examples.

Course aim

The aims of this course are: to embed further learning and development of acapella ensemble singing skills to maintain and improve the mental and physical benefits of singing together experienced by students

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers
  • Ideally you will already have attended a previous Singing for Health course, although new singers are welcome. Places are strictly limited because of Covid regulations and best practice re singing

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Learn, improve and embed Covid-safe warmups for singing in groups
  • Confidently hold a part in a round with others in a group
  • Confidently sing a harmony part with others in a group
  • Share information I have learned about a range of singing cultures and traditions
  • Take part in an (optional) choral singing opportunity with an audience

How will I be taught?

What kind of feedback can I expect?

What else do I need to know?

Bring your own refreshments . Please wear loose comfortable clothing and shoes. Please ensure you are prepared to adhere to current (and changing) Covid-safe best practice in singing. Information about this will be circulated to students before the class.
