This course is designed to help you improve your speaking and listening skills so that you can communicate in Greek more confidently and effectively. It will also help you improve your reading and writing skills and gain a further insight into the Greek lifestyle and culture. In a friendly and relaxed atmosphere you will have plenty of opportunity to practise using everyday words and phrases and useful grammatical structures in a fun and enjoyable way through a variety of activities (including pictures, games and roleplays). If you are not sure if this is the right level course for you, please contact the WEA and ask to be put in contact with the tutor.
Course aim
This course aims to expand the Greek you have already learnt and build up your confidence to use the language to communicate with the locals when in Greece or Cyprus. It will also give you a further insight into the Greek lifestyle and culture.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for improvers
- This course is for people who have previously learnt Greek and are at intermediate level.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Use my Greek language skills to communicate more confidently with others on this term’s topics.
- Read and / listen to dialogues, texts and audio materials relating to more everyday situations and aspects of the Greek culture and lifestyle and briefly discuss them with others in the class.
- Use and demonstrate understanding of new words and expressions in Greek.
- Use and demonstrate understanding of new aspects of the Greek grammar.
What else do I need to know?
Please bring a pen or pencil, a notepad and a folder to keep your work in. You may need to print additional materials for the course from the WEA's digital learning platform. If you are new to this group you will need to buy a book and relevant CDs that cost £30.
