This is a Basic BSL course that will cover a range of different topics to help to build the learners sign vocabulary and perhaps evoke a desire to learn more sign to enable more communication with the deaf community!

This course is only open to residents of West Yorkshire

Course aim

To help learners to learn some basic signs to give them an appetite to learn more perhaps progressing to a BSL Level 1 course.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • To be able to ask someone their name and sign your name in BSL
  • To be able to count to 10
  • To be able to sign one or more food signs
  • To be able to make basic conversation relating to colours, animals and numbers
  • To be able to do some basic family signs

This course is funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and only applicable postcode areas are permitted to enrol.
