Creative writing

A relaxed exploration of creative writing, including writing practice. We will study techniques of fiction writing, memoir and poetry. We will look at work by published authors, examining techniques they have used in their writing, and using this to inspire new writing. The class will be about encouragement and sharing, and there will be opportunities to give and receive feedback.

Course aim

To maintain a regular writing habit, extend your writing abilities and gain confidence in writing. To try different types of writing.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Write at least one piece of original prose.
  • Write at least one new poem.
  • Gain inspiration from a piece of published writing.
  • Give constructive feedback to others in the group.
  • Share work with the group for feedback
