This course is fully online accessing the course through Canvas our virtual learning environment and zoom a video conferencing software. You will need, reliable internet connection and internet-linked device with camera and microphone. We will email you links to canvas, please accept these to access the course, the sender will show as “instructure”. Gain skills and knowledge of your sewing machine in the confort of your own home. Improve your creativity by designing your very own lap quilt. In each session you will learn how to design, measure and cut your very own 'blocks' for creating a lap quilt. You will gain confidence in using your own sewing machine and be given the opportunity to share your ideas and creativity with other like-minded people.

Course aim

The aim of this course is to encourage learners to learn how to use their sewing machines at home. The course will give learners confidence and knowledge in the techniques and principles surrounding sewing and quilting.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Gain skills and confidence in using a sewing machine
  • Improve measuring and cutting fabric skills
  • Increase my confidence of learning online
  • Produce different patchwork blocks
  • Complete a Lap quilt

Sewing machine fabric and haberdashery. All material lists will be put up on Canvas and released a week before the course starts.
