Cider with Rosie: Memory and Imagination

Ref: C3533213

We'll be thinking about the moments that stand out in Laurie Lee's 1959 book, Cider with Rosie. It is generally agreed to be a rural classic, presenting a view of Gloucestershire's Slad valley in the early 20th century. How does it impact on the present-day reader? We'll be thinking about the impact this book had, both when first published and in the years following. When did you first discover it? We'll ask questions about the way it's written and what it tells us about people, places, events, memory and truth. It will be useful to have read this book prior to the session.
