Hand stitching has long held abilities to calm the mind and bring peace through memories recorded and recalled during its practice. Fabric journals are made of small pages which are formed of layers of fabric creating a realistic memory or a more abstract collage of colours and textures. The pages are held together with hand stitching and can be embroidered and have various other additions such as buttons or beads. This course is about making the pages for a journal with part two of the course in the future showing how to sew the pages together to make a journal.

Course aim

A beginners guide to creating pages for a fabric journal with the purpose of both recording and recalling memories in fabric and stitch. A rich texture of colour and fabric layers held together with simple hand stitching methods.
