Conservation, ethics and sustainable development:the drive for a new environment

Ref: C3533170

Never before have issues around the environment been more prominent, so much so that the dominant issues of the time revolve around the Climate Crisis and the extinction of animals and plants. There is no credible challenge to the view that we humans are to blame. Neither is it the case that scientific and technical knowledge is lacking; it is the political ways and means to solve our massive environmental problems that require exploration and implementation. The course will outline some of these problems, introduce some of the ethical ideas, and seek to stimulate a discussion around how democratic 'civil society' may show the way forward.

Course aim

To Introduce the range and the complexity of environmental problems, identify where values reside in modern ideas around environmental governance.
