Botanical Illustrations: A Fresh Start, Part 2

We will all work on the same subject each week (a shell, a leaf ,a petal) which will give an opportunity for the tutor to lead the class stage by stage. This will be excellent practise in producing a richly coloured, accurately observed Botanical study using watercolour paints.

Course aim

Continuing to consider more basic aspects of Botanical Illustration, exploring more skills in observation and accurate drawing of a Natural Object. Trying out ways of composing a painting and using watercolour paints with assured confidence.

  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is for improvers
  • This course is for beginners and improvers
  • An interest in gardens and/or the Natural World is always a help.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Look at Natural objects with a critical eye.
  • Make informed decisions about scale and composition.
  • Use watercolour paint with both subtlety and intensity.
  • Discover things about natural objects that I didn't know existed.
  • Produce a a painting to be proud of.
