Starting again after the prolonged break, the course will gently reintroduce the basics of accurate and keenly observed drawing and painting. Learning to use watercolours in an intense style to produce ever more sophisticated tones that are present in nature. The slow, meditative approach can bring about the most rewarding results.

Course aim

A fresh start to Botanical Illustration returning to the basics of drawing, painting and observing the Natural World. Using watercolour paints to produce accurate representations of various aspects of plants, leaves, flowers or shells.

  • This course is for beginners

  • This course is for beginners and improvers
  • An interest in gardening and/or the Natural World is always a help.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Draw a natural object with confidence and accuracy.
  • Use watercolour paints with a sense of experiment and daring.
  • Compose a beautiful watercolour painting.
  • See new aspects of the natural world.
  • Have opinions about contemporary and historical botanical painters.
