Sewing for Charity

Students will be working in groups to build confidence and sewing skills and develop knowledge and awareness of all the charities. They will create and design items which will be donated to various charities supporting local communities. Students will be working as part of a team to create and design items such as dresses, trousers and tops for local charities. You will develop IT skills by researching different types of charities, using social media sites to upload designs and will also use zoom and canvas to upload their work. Students will develop knowledge of charity work and discover opportunities for volunteering and build confidence to find work in the textiles industry or in self-employment.

Course aim

The aim of this course is to build up learners confidence in sewing skills . They will be working in groups to create items to donate to charities..

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • list 4 different local charities ( from research)
  • Upload at least 2 pieces of work onto Canvas
  • Contact 1 or more local charity to discuss donation of goods
  • Produce different items for donation.
  • Present ideas to class ( groupwork)

This course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority and only applicable postcode areas are permitted to enrol.
