This course is the first step in improving your sewing skills and learning the English you need to get a job in the garment industry. The learners will be doing group work on how to sew samples of French seams and hems. They will read the hand outs and improve their English skills. They will learn to login to canvas and upload their work. They will be making a very basic garment to improve the sewing skills.

Course aim

Aim of this course is to build up learners confidence in sewing skills in sewing samples of seams and hems. Learn how to read hand outs.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Produce a sample of French seam
  • Learn to read 5 or more new words in English
  • Join in a group discussion using English language
  • Produce a basic garment
  • Login to canvas.
