This course will help you practise asking questions, listening for information, and further develop your pronunciation so you can communicate better. You will practise your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills to enable you to interact with your community and public service professionals. You will be introduced to language that will give you the basic tools to help you look for work.

Course aim

This course will give you the basic language skills to interact with your community and public service professionals. It will also introduce you to language to enable you to look for work. You will study content equivalent to an Entry 2

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Use common regular and irregular verbs to talk about past events
  • Recognise and pronounce the different 'ED' endings of regular past tense verbs when reading or talking about past events
  • Recognise, write and use common adjectives to describe people
  • Use comparative and superlative adjectives to talk about people or objects
  • Recognise, write and use common intensifier adverbs to talk about leisure activities

You will need study equipment: pens, writing pad and a notebook for new vocabulary You will need a bi-lingual dictionary or a translating device
