A Junk Journal is a brilliant way to combine scrapbooking with keeping a journal. It is basically a collection of different types of papers such as coffee dyed paper, old book pages or maps, junk mail envelopes or even wallpaper - any piece of paper that grabs your interest for whatever reason. Or you might prefer to make a themed journal, such as one on sewing, or reading, or your grandchildren. A glue book is another great way to be creative as well as being a great way to relax, re-charge your batteries. I really hope you will join us on this creative, relaxing and rewarding adventure.

Course aim

To design and build a Junk Journal - sew in a signature, decorate and embellish. Turn an old hard backed book into a Glue Book.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Design and create a cover for your Junk Journal.
  • Turn an old hardback book into a creative, mindful and reflective haven for your thoughts and feelings.
  • Design, create and decorate a series of journal cards and tags.
  • Use a minimum of 2 techniques to age and distress paper.
  • Create at least 2 embellishments for use in your journal.

How will I be taught?

What kind of feedback can I expect?

What else do I need to know?

There will be a resource list posted on Canvas but you can start gathering together a large A4 size envelope. Paper - plain A4 copier paper is fine, rest is optional - old book pages, junk mail, old maps, paper bags, and anything else made of paper. An old Hardback book - charity shop place to look.
