Introduction to Dress Making

Join us for a 4 week course on Dress Making. You may bring your sewing machine if you have one, we have some if not so don't worry. You will learn how to make sense of a pattern and create your own garment. If you have any unfinished projects of your own that you would like help with feel free to bring them along and Kelly will guide you.

Course aim

Learn Basic sewing skills and how to make an item of clothing.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • By the end of the course I will be able to thread up a sewing machine correctly.
  • By the end of the course I will understand terminology, such as, seam allowance, bag out, straight stitch, loop stitch.
  • By the end of the course I will be able to understand and follow patterns.
  • By the end of the course I will have completed a garment

A basic sewing kit is required - scissors, thread, needles, tape measure, chalk, pins and a note pad. Any other equipment will be communicated.
