Introduction to Home Textiles

Join us for a 4 week course on Home Textiles. You may bring your sewing machine if you have one, we have some if not so don't worry. You will learn how to make curtains, a blind and a throw cushion cover. If you have any unfinished projects of your own that you would like help with feel free to bring them along and Kelly will guide you.

Course aim

Learn basic sewing skills and how to make a cushion cover and curtains.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • By the end of the course I will be able to thread up a sewing machine correctly.
  • By the end of the course I will have made a throw cushion.
  • By he end of the course I will understand terminology, such as, seam allowance, bag out, straight stitch, loop stitch.
  • By the end of the course I will understand & be able to follow a pattern.

A basic sewing kit is required - scissors, thread, needles, tape measure, chalk, pins and a note pad. Any other equipment will be communicated.
