This course is designed for speakers of other languages who wish to develop and improve their English reading skills. Learners will see development of their reading skills for both gist and comprehension. This course will develop key skills in reading English for proficiency. There will be a variety of different learning methods, such as independent work, group work and class based discussions. The topics included will reflect everyday English in everyday life situations. Students can look forward to increasing their skills in a familiar and informed environment.
Course aim
The main purpose of this course is to help improve English reading skills for speakers of other languages. This will be taught through a variety of different topics all in aid of improving reading for English proficiency.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Recognise the different purposes of texts
- identify the main points and ideas in a text
- Skim and scan texts to locate information
- Obtain specific information through detailed reading
- Submit documentation on a digital platform Canvas
