Given several options the group will organise, participate and review a venue/site with specific reference to its location, access and aesthetic influence and value in the region. Learners may choose to use a journal the visit to include interviews with participants, practitioners and/or curators plus where appropriate photographs. There will be an opportunity to discuss ideas over refreshments.

Course aim

Complimenting the Painting and Drawing Inspired by Northumberland course, this session will be an opportunity to collectively plan and record a tour of a specific art venue/site in Northumberland.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Know how to plan safely a trip to a cultural venue/site in the region.
  • Know how to plan inclusively a trip to a cultural venue/site in the region.
  • Be able to discuss the qualities and challenges of visiting cultural venues in the area.
  • Record ideas and responses beyond in a journal.
  • Publish the journey on Canvas and/or social media

Travel logistics will be part of the process of planning and where possible and/or necessary public transport will be used. A sketch book, pencil/pen and camera/phone. Comfortable appropriate clothes and footwear.
