Is English your second language? Do you want to improve your English skills and feel more confident about speaking English in everyday situations? Then this course is for you. It is not designed for the beginner. It is for students who are wishing to improve their confidence and fluency in English. We will be looking at everyday topics and having group discussions. Students will be encouraged to engage in conversations with each other in English!

Course aim

This is an online ESOL course with a particular focus on speaking English.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • You need to have access to the internet and to have a camera. Also need to use Zoom and Canvas

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Engage in a conversation on a given topic with other students. Be able to talk about their family, home, neighbourhood and job.
  • Be able to ask for directions to places and to give directions
  • Listen to English speakers and identify key words used during the conversation and understand their meaning.
  • Take part in a discussion - understand rules for listening and speaking in turns.
  • Access WEA digital platform. Submit documentation on a digital platform Canvas.

  • You declare that the address you provide is correct and that you will provide evidence of this and your eligibility to live and work in the UK
