This ‘Introduction to Maths’ underpins your exciting knowledge of Maths and expands your ability to apply it to different contexts and environments; such as everyday events, the workplace, or future employment prospects. With the key aims of enabling you to develop a confidence, fluency and a positive attitude towards solving mathematical problems by handling information and data as well as solving mathematical problems and decision making. Covering areas such as: using numbers, the number system; the sums of add, divide, times and subtract.

Course aim

This ‘Introduction to Maths’ is based on the Functional Skills Maths specification, enabling you to develop a confidence and a fluency towards Maths. Developing a knowledge of Maths and the skills to apply it to solve mathematical problems.

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Use numbers and the number system effectively and efficiently.
  • Use the sum: add (+)
  • Use the sum: subtract (-)
  • Use the sum: multiply (x)
  • Use the sum: divide (/)
