From Chicken Sweetcorn Soup to Jambalaya, you will be able to learn and feel confident in making a variety of dishes from around the world. Throughout the course, you will learn how to prepare the ingredients and use cooking equipment safely. You will also learn how to substitute traditional ingredients with healthy alternatives. How to read recipes and interpret them. You will learn how to serve the various dishes appropriately and best of all, enjoy eating what you have made!

Course aim

Learners will be able to learn and feel confident in making a wide variety of dishes from around the world. Health benefits of various ingredients are discussed throughout the sessions. Learners will be able to substitute healthier options.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • List the ingredients for “ Jambalaya”
  • Memorise the procedure of making “Chicken Sweetcorn Soup ”
  • Recognise at least 5 different spices from around the world.
  • Demonstrate how to make “Aalu Gobhi with Parantha”
  • submit documentation on a digital platform and participate in an online discussion on Canvas

What you need: - an internet connection, speakers, a microphone and a webcam so that you can use our video learning platform, Zoom. - a personal email address to join the WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas - if you wish to cook along, you will need the ingredients and access to a kitchen

  • You are paying the standard fee (with a credit or debit card) or you are on any of the qualifying benefits
  • You have a valid email address so that you can receive confirmation of your booking
  • You have been resident in the UK, EU or EEA for the last 3 years
  • You are aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2021
  • You declare that the address you provide is correct and that you will provide evidence of this and your eligibility to live and work in the UK
  • You have read and accept our standard terms and conditions
