During the session we will discuss your skills and experience with you, talk to you about our courses and ask you to complete a short reading and writing task. We will also check your skills in your community language.

Course aim
This session will provide you with information about the Level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting. You will be asked to complete some short assessment tasks that will help us to see if this course is right for you.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- Before you can join this course you will need to talk to a member of staff and do an initial assessment to make sure the course is right for you. Please call the Student Support Team on 0300 303 3464
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Identify the skills I have, need and will develop during the course
- Agree whether I will be able to/am ready to undertake a Community Interpreting course
- Prepare for enrolment
- Consider referral to other learning opportunities
What else do I need to know?
This Initial Assessment is available for London residents who are either not in work and want to gain employment or are working and on a low wage (less than £21,157.50 a year). You need to be aged 19+ and be available to undertake 85 hours of tutor led study.
