London Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning

During this course you will be able to develop your skills and knowledge and will be able to put this into practice through your placement. You will focus on children and young people’s development, the safeguarding or their welfare, and the importance of communication and professional relationships. You will build a portfolio of work that will be used as evidence to support the Level 3 qualification. You need to be aged 19+ to join this course, available to undertake 210 hours of tutor led study and be working (paid or as a volunteer) for at 100 hours in a school or college.

This course is free to adults that receive certain benefits, or live on an earned income of less than £21, 175 per year. The course is only available to adults that live in London.

Course aim

This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to work effectively with children and young people in a school or college environment.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • Before you can join this course you will need to talk to a member of staff and do an initial assessment to make sure the course is right for you. Please call the Student Support Team on 0300 303 3464
  • To complete this course you will be required to complete a placement. This will be discussed with you at initial assessment.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • safeguard the welfare of children and young people
  • plan and prepare for learning activities
  • use assessment strategies to promote learning
  • promote positive behaviour and respond to challenging behaviour
  • manage risks to health, safety and security in a work setting
