Introduction to drawing and watercolour painting techniques; Drawing with a range of drawing materials such as pastels charcoal, and painting with watercolour. Start afresh with art or improve your art practice. Come and join a group of people meeting at Bay 20 and enjoy some time to relax and reflect, making art from observation and imagination in a mindful way.

Course aim

An introduction to art skills and improving your well-being by relaxing, using colour, drawing and painting with watercolour. Let your imagination go to remember things to draw or be inspired by drawing from observation from what is around you.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Improve your well - being through enjoying an art session working with other people and socialising with others interested in art at Bay 20 Space.
  • Be able to draw a basic outline of an object or natural forms like trees.
  • You will learn about balancing a picture through your composition technique and ways to create pictorial depth.
  • You will develop drawing techniques in showing tonal contrast using line, a variety of mark.
  • You will learn to mix and improve use of colour and develop a knowledge of different colour pigments to make warm or cold colours.

Basic materials will be provided but any watercolour and drawing equipment would be helpful to bring along.
