This taster session will help students understand key aspects of the work of a community interpreter and decide if they would like to do a Level 1 Community Interpreting course.

This taster is free to adults whose children attend schools, or children centres, in Hackney (London).

Course aim

This taster session will help students decide if they would like to work as a community interpreter. Students will reflect on existing skills and identify some skills that need developing.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Describe three places where a community interpreter might work
  • Identify 3 situations where a community interpreter would be useful
  • List three essential skills required by a community interpreter

Enrolment Conditions

This course is funded by the Greater London Combined Authority but is also open to residents of other areas.

  • You are aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2021
  • You declare that the address you provide is correct and that you will provide evidence of this and your eligibility to live and work in the UK
