The course will provide students with an insight into the main social and political events that defined Britain in the 60s. It will also explore Britain's changing role in the Cold War world

Course aim

To provide an overview of the main political and social events that characterised Britain in the 1960s

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • An understanding of the main political events in Britain in the 1960s
  • Understanding how why there was a social revolution in Britain in the 60s and how social legislation reflected these changes
  • Understand how Britain became the centre of youth culture in relation to fashion, the Arts and music in the 60s
  • Understand how the Cold War manifested itself in the 60s looking at the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Invasion of Czechoslovakia
