Reading the headlines; Eat this, no don't eat this! How can you tell what's true? Or even if there is some truth but you are not told the whole story. We will be looking at the pros and cons of different types of diet. e.g. vegan, paleo, organic, anti-inflammatory etc, exploring the psychology of eating, the links between mental health and food, food additives, food allergies and intolerances, the gut biome together with the gut brain axis, and fasting for health. This course is for anyone wanting to find out more about the current trends in eating, and hoping to improve the health of themselves and their families.

This course if for anyone who is interested in the conflicting advice given about diet

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify the main components of different types of diet
  • Explore fasting for health?
  • Explore the psychology of eating and our relationships with food throughout life
  • Identify the differences between food allergies and intolerances, and how to identify ingredients on food labels
  • Analyse the research on the gut biome, and the gut/brain axis.

This course is funded by the Greater London Combined Authority but is also open to residents of other areas.
