The aim of this course is to gain a Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) qualification and to prepare you to become an Early Years Educator, enabling you to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. This course is for students aged 24+ with no existing full Level 3 qualification who will be available to undertake a Level 3 Diploma course with 10 hours tutor led study per week, as well as online tasks to be completed in your own time. You also need to either be working or have a voluntary work placement in an Early Years setting as an important part of the assessment process involves evaluating skills in real working situations. The placement needs to be 350 hours.

Course aim

This course will prepare you to become an Early Years Educator, enabling you to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • To complete this course you will be required to complete a placement. This will be discussed with you at initial assessment.

  • Support healthy lifestyles for children
  • Recognise legislation relating to the safeguarding, protection and welfare of children
  • Appreciate the value of play in early years
  • Use observation, assessment and planning to promote the development of children
  • Demonstrate competence in a real work environment

This online course is for students aged 24+ who do not have an existing full Level 3 qualification. To join you will need to have a work placement (either paid or voluntary) in an Early Years setting for at least 350 hours.
