Course aim

This course is aimed at those with some experience in sewing but, are willing to improve their existing skills. The course will cover a range of techniques including blind hemming for curtains, mitred corners, and zip insertions

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Develop independent research skills for creative ideas and inspiration
  • Enhance existing skills on soft furnishing sewing skills
  • Learn new skills and techniques, such as sewing heading tape to curtains and making a mitred corner on curtains
  • Select appropriate fabrics for cushions, curtains, and other soft furnishing items
  • Explore ideas on how to sell hand made items to family, friends or online to improve confidence as well as your income

Sewing machines and basic sewing room tools are provided but it is advised to bring own sewing kit
