Each session will explore a different theme and strategies in either personal or job seeking skills. The course will aim to be as interactive as possible, so students can actively explore what is important to them both individually and as a group. We will explore practical, realistic steps into employment and how to make the most of job seeking activity as well as exploring some of the barriers that students might face. Students will have the opportunity to build up a range of skills, strategies, tips and support to take forward, ensuring greater confidence and positivity in what they can achieve.
Course aim
A friendly and supportive opportunity to take stock and explore moving forward towards work. This course will help you to explore practical steps for moving towards employment, volunteering or making the most of job seeking activity.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Identify at least 3 key personal strengths, qualities and skills
- List 3 personal and 3 job seeking goals and identify steps to achievement.
- Evaluate personal barriers to job search and identify support available in the local community
- Create an action plan for the future based on your personal and job seeking goals.
What else do I need to know?
- A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you - It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.) - A notebook and pens
