In this course we will look at the arts and crafts and the visual culture of the countries of origin of members of the group. We will look at books and images from the internet as well as actual personal objects and photos where possible. You will then be encouraged to make your own piece of art or craft work reflecting your country of origin in someway. We have a lot of different media available and you will be given help in using them and in developing your ideas. You will be encouraged to support other students as they support you, through sharing your ideas, work and experiences.
Course aim
To explore the visual cultures of the countries of origin of members of the group and to support each student to make a personal piece of artwork which in some way reflects that region.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Describe an art or craft form that is common in my country of origin.
- Describe an art or craft form common in another country.
- Choose a medium to use for my piece of art or craft.
- Create a piece of art or craft influenced in some way be the art and craft or visual culture of my own country of origin.
What else do I need to know?
All materials will be provided. Any objects or photos you wish to bring will be very welcome.
